More jobs means less people claiming benefits & more income for the taxman. All the new nukes planned for the UK will provide 10% at best… renewables could provide 10X what we use today… see link for what wind wave & tidal alone could do, let alone on-shore technologies like PV & solar water heaters on every home & business & super efficient technologies like Heat-source pumps & LED lighting. Nukes are a technology of the last Century, developed for the weapons they spawned… there are much more intelligent ways of doing things.

This depends on what you mean by efficiency. If you are talking about cost then you need to compare cost per TWh or if you are talking about resources then you need to compare natural resources used per TWh. You are correct in that if you are talking about number of hours worked per TWh then nuclear is much more efficient.
However, the point of this graph is to show that nuclear is a very inefficient way of producing employment. The nuclear power industry and the UK government have stated many times nuclear power will create lots of jobs which is not true.
What is not shown on the graph is how many jobs could be created in energy efficiency – insulating houses etc.

Do you mean that it is a positive thing to be high on the axis of #jobs per TWh?
In my mind, it is the opposite – the more jobs per TWh, the less efficient.

      Hi Oskar
I noticed that you are from Vattenfall. I have no problems with you posting on the site but I was just wondering are you posting on here because of personal interest or is it part of your job?
